In the current phase of the global economic cycle, which is characterized by a downturn, and with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, many industries have been affected, and the quantum information industry is no exception. Apart from macroeconomic factors, from the perspective of quantum technology itself, most quantum technologies are still in the early stages of development, with low levels of technological maturity and commercialization. These factors will all affect the scale of funding support that quantum companies can obtain.

From the perspective of financing amount, The highest financing amount in February was 575.16 million US dollars. The company with the highest single financing amount is Sandbox AQ, which raised 500 million US dollars in its Series D financing round. The second is Pasqal, which raised 100 million euros in its Series B financing round.

From the perspective of financing amount, the financing amount for the quantum technology industry in Q1 2023 is about $897 million US dollars, which is only about $64 million less than that of the same period last year.

In the first quarter of 2023, the most common types of quantum financing rounds are seed and Series A rounds, both with five transactions; followed by four Series B rounds, one Series D round, two grants, and two undisclosed transactions.

According to the financing data of quantum companies in the first quarter of 2023, a total of 19 financings occurred. Compared with the number of financings in the first quarter of 2022, there was a decrease.

In 2023 Q1, there were 17 financings related to quantum computing and two for quantum communication enterprises. There were no financing records for quantum measurement enterprises in the first quarter.

From the distribution by country, the United States and France have the most financing deals, both with 4 deals; followed by China and the United Kingdom, with two deals each; Germany, Netherlands, Canada, Israel, Japan, Singapore and Australia all had one financing deal.
