Quantum G12 The United States, Britain, France, Germany and Japan set up the Quantum Twelve

In 1975, in order to jointly solve the world economic and monetary crisis, coordinate economic policies and revitalize the Western economy, France first initiated the convening of a summit at the highest level with the participation of five countries: France, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom and Germany. The following year, Italy and Canada joined, and the Western G7 was formally formed.

Since its inception, the G7 has represented the interests of the West from the beginning to the end. With the advent of the second quantum revolution, quantum technology became a strategic high point for the world powers to compete for, and the twelve countries, led by the US, UK, France, Germany and Japan, would set up an interest group around quantum technology. They have created a new website called Entanglement Exchange to promote international quantum cooperation and collaboration through the exchange of personnel.

On November 30, quantum.gov, the official website of the National Quantum Initiative, posted that a dozen countries, including Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States, launched Entanglement Exchange, a quantum information science (QIS) portal for students, postdocs and researchers portal to highlight international exchange opportunities. All of the G7 countries, except Italy, have joined.

Quantum information science is an emerging field of information processing using quantum physics that promises technological breakthroughs such as quantum computers, quantum networks and quantum sensors, each of which offers capabilities beyond those of traditional devices. While the field has been in development for decades, the pace of development has accelerated in recent years through programs and initiatives that invest in QIS research and development.

In May 2022, twelve countries met in Washington, D.C., for a roundtable on the shared pursuit of quantum information. The meeting highlighted the importance of international collaboration in QIS to accelerate discovery, share resources, and work together to address global challenges. Recognizing the benefits of international partnerships and the global nature of science, the idea of an "Entanglement Exchange" was proposed as a follow-up.

Entanglement Exchange, which means entanglement exchange, represents the importance of entanglement in quantum information science and the importance of national exchanges.

These countries worked together to identify exchange opportunities in QIS and developed the Entanglement Exchange as a way to help disseminate information about these opportunities. in November 2022, countries met in London for a roundtable on advancing the quantum multilateral dialogue. "The Entanglement Exchange program was finalized and "entanglementexchange.org" was launched.

On the Entanglement Exchange website, visitors can find links to pages created and hosted by each of the countries represented. These pages contain opportunities to study and conduct research at QIS, some of which are country-specific and some of which are open to researchers from around the world.

Given the importance of training the next generation of quantum information scientists and engineers, and the potentially far-reaching impact of international cooperation to advance the field, the countries involved in launching the Entanglement Exchange hope to advance the field and help ensure that QIS technology is realized for the benefit of humanity.

In fact, at the G7 Summit in the UK in 2020, the G7, together with Belgium and Austria, launched an initiative called the Federal Quantum System (FQS) to lead the construction of a network of quantum communication satellites, with the first satellite scheduled for launch in 2023.

But strangely enough, this time the G12 does not have Italy in the G7, for reasons unknown. But judging from the history of Italy as a country, they may still be waiting and watching.
