Wave Systems Inc. is a leader in quantum computing systems, software and services, and the only company building both annealing and gate-based quantum computers.

Last year, D-Wave announced that they would develop gate-based quantum computers, but at the same time said they would not abandon the quantum annealing route. The Advantage2 system is its sixth-generation quantum system, and the official version will be available in 2023-2024, with 7,000 qubits, performance will be greatly improved, and qubit connectivity has increased from the previous 15 to 20. D-Wave named this 20-qubit topology the Zephyr topology.

A new low-noise multilayer superconducting integrated circuit fabrication process will provide greater qubit coherence, leading to improved performance. Early tests of quantum processing unit (QPU) chips fabricated using the new low-noise process have highlighted significant reductions in qubit noise.

As part of the development process, D-Wave has completed a small 500+ qubit Advantage2 prototype featuring a new qubit design, significantly reduced noise and 20-qubit connectivity.

This launch, though only a prototype, has all the core features available for testing: a downscaled system for tighter embedding, increased energy scale and lower error rates, improved solution quality, and increased discovery Possibility of the best solution. By offering a prototype of Advantage2 in the Leap quantum cloud service, D-Wave is providing an early reference for developers and researchers to explore and learn.

Emile Hoskinson, Director of Quantum Annealing Products at D-Wave, said: "We have been building annealed quantum computers for over 15 years. Over the years, we have been able to create a scalable manufacturing and product development cycle. With Advantage2, we have accelerated the process of bringing our manufacturing to life. and materials and the ability to bring hardware and software innovations into the development cycle faster. The Advantage2 prototype is designed to share what we are learning and continue to get feedback from the community as we build towards a full Advantage2 system. With Advantage2, we will break through a The limit: Once the entire system is proven usable, good connectivity and noise reduction can be a delivery tool for higher performance."

As early as January 18, 2022, D-Wave announced that the Leap quantum cloud system was officially launched at the Supercomputing Center of the Jülich Research Center in Germany. Developers can sign up for the Leap Quantum Cloud service for free one-minute quantum processing units (QPUs) and quantum hybrid solvers. Now, Leap paid subscription customers can experience the full capabilities of Leap's quantum cloud service - including access to the new Advantage2 prototype.

In addition to passing the Advantage2 prototype, the 5000+ qubit Advantage™ system will be released in October 2021. Leap also includes quantum hybrid solvers, such as the new Constrained Quadratic Model (CQM) solver, the industry's first solver that can harness the power of quantum computing to run constrained quadratic optimization problems with integer and continuous variables. The cloud service also integrates an updated Integrated Developer Environment (IDE), Python-based Ocean™ open source developer tools, demos, sample code and samples, and a growing community of quantum developers, all for running built for quantum hybrid applications in production.

The company also launched the D-Wave Launch™ program, a quantum jump-start program for enterprises. The D-Wave Launch program brings together a team of application experts and a strong partner community to provide support, help identify the best applications, and translate enterprise problems into hybrid quantum applications.
