The Key Laboratory of quantum information of Chinese Academy of Sciences won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award

On the morning of November 3, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council held a grand national science and technology award conference in Beijing. One achievement completed by the Key Laboratory of quantum information of Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of science and technology of China, won the second prize of National Natural Science.

Professor Li Chuanfeng and others, as the main completers, won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award for the project of "Research on basic problems of quantum physics based on quantum information technology". Quantum state is the core concept of quantum mechanics, and the basic problems of quantum physics are closely related to the characteristics of quantum state. Classical technology can not reveal the real face of the quantum world. Li Chuanfeng and others are committed to developing quantum information technology, realizing the accurate preparation, manipulation and storage of quantum states, and used to study many basic problems in quantum physics. The main achievements include: the wave particle superposition state of light is observed experimentally for the first time, challenging the traditional boundary set by the complementarity principle; Experiments verify the new form of Heisenberg uncertainty relationship assisted by entanglement; Experimental implementation of Maxwell Demon quantum algorithm cooling and so on. These results have greatly promoted people's understanding of some basic physical problems.

The national science and technology award is the highest award in the field of science and technology in China. It is divided into five awards: the national highest science and technology award, the National Natural Science Award, the National Technological Invention Award, the national science and Technology Progress Award and the international science and Technology Cooperation Award of the people's Republic of China. The award won this time is the second National Natural Science second prize won by our laboratory.
